MIKE PROUDLOVE - Cruising Instructor

Mike Proudlove, the skipper for the Scottish Adventure cruises, has sailed extensively on the Scottish west coast. He has delivered commercial boats to the outer islands, worked as skipper on a large charter yacht based near Oban and most recently, spent three weeks in the summer of 2010 cruising between Jura and Skye doing more 'background research'.

Mike is an RYA Ocean Yachtmaster. He is also a keen hill walker and birder and has a real passion for astronavigation. (There will be a sextant on board for anyone who wants to try their hand!) Mike has cruised in British Columbia, Alaska and Hawaii and still ranks the Scottish islands as the most beautiful and interesting cruising grounds in the world.

MARTIN SULLY - Cruising Instructor

I started sailing at the age of twelve in a mirror dinghy in the severn estuary, racing at weekends and going on family holidays in my fathers cruiser up and down the Bristol Channel. I have sailed virtually every weekend since then in national and international events in a variety of different boats and then moving onto asymmetric dinghies until 3 years ago.

I have for the last 3 years moved onto sailing cruisers, and have been teaching people how to sail in cruisers since 2009 as a full time position.

At the current age of 46 I love my job and feel I have found my place as I feel at home on the water, better than on dry land.

He worked to gain his instructors qualifications and is now a Yachtmaster instructor for sail. He has a huge amoount of teaching experience in all areas of the country.
