Our adventure cruises have always been popular with our sail school students and charterers as a way of gaining more experience, or having a holiday on the water with the advantage of an instructor skipper. For 2010 we are pleased to announce the introduction of adventure weekends. The adventure weekends will be on the same basis as our adventure cruises, relaxed and informal.
Our enthusiastic skippers encourage everyone's involvements and opportunities for aspiring coastal/yachtmasters to skipper the yacht for the longer 60+ mile passages are always available.
Join us on an adventure cruise, for experienced sailors and beginners, cruising around some of the most beautiful waters in the UK.
Our enthusiastic skippers encourage everyone's involvement and opportunities for aspiring coastal/yachtmasters to skipper the yacht for the longer 60+ mile passages are always available. These passages can then be used for qualifying passages, a pre-requisite for the Yachtmaster Coastal or Yachtmaster Offshore qualifications.
Novice sailors are more than welcome to join us on our adventure sailing holidays, which are a great introduction to life on board a cruising yacht. RYA Instructors skipper the cruises, so beginner sailors can gain experience under their expert guidance.
Having completed a thorough safety check and briefing, the yachts soon leave the Pembrokeshire Coast and head out on an offshore passage. The crew quickly fall into the swing of things with the skipper encouraging everyone's involvement. Destinations include Southern Ireland, the Isles of Scilly, Padstow and Lundy Island.
Having made landfall, relax and explore ashore for the morning or afternoon, before setting sail on our next adventure.
During the week we will enjoy an overnight passage, often the most magical time to be sailing, joined by dolphins and overlooked by stars.
We usually make up over 300 nm during the week, useful for those looking for a "mile builder", in order to achieve the pre-requisite experience and mileage for further RYA courses. The cruises are the perfect opportunity to enjoy a cruise without chartering a boat.
The crews are normally a mix of single travellers and couples; we can provide wet weather gear and sleeping bags if required. Our premium rate allows single travellers to have their own cabin, and also drops the number on board from 5 to 4.
Kilmore Quay, our nearest landfall lies inside the Saltee Islands. Being on the south eastern corner of Ireland, we have often seen Pilot or Minky whales on their migratory route north. Thatched roof cottages are dotted throughout the village. A group of seals occupy the harbour, waiting to be fed by the fishermen. Further west is Cork, the home of Irish Yachting and Kinsale with its gastronomic delights. We also explore several delightful, quiet anchorages such as Ballycotton, Oyster Haven and Castletownsend, giving a varied and exciting experience to remember for years to come.
Lying west of Land's End the Scilly Islas are a haven of tranquillity. Basking in a micro climate caused by the gulf stream, the white sparkling sands and crystal clear waters create a paradise which is closer than you think. After the exhilarating overnight passage arrive amongst theses wonderful islands and take time to explore ashore. The islands each have a different character and navigation between then provide an excellent chance to brush up on your pilotage skills. After exploring the islands by sea and shore we make the return journey, stopping at Padstow or Lundy Island before returning to base. The town of Padstow is an ancient, busy fishing port with picturesque cottages nestling in the narrow streets leading down to the harbour and quays. Lundy is a peaceful nature reserve located off the North Devon coast, a stunning location for our last stop before home.

In addition to our regular sail school and cruise programme we are delighted to announce adventure sailing weekends. A relaxed sailing break to take in the delights of the Pembrokeshire Coastal National Park.
It's a great chance to get back into sailing after a break, gain valuable experience topping up your miles and refresh your skills without the formal structure of a sail school.
A quick safety brief before setting out on Friday night, followed by a short hop to a local bay and possibly a little trip in the dinghy for that Friday night refreshment.
On Saturday, we will get sailing, stopping for a break at one of Pembrokeshire's wonderful beaches for a spot of lunch. Evening stopovers, which could be Little Haven, Solva, Barafundle, or Tenby for a run ashore or a peaceful night at anchor.
On Sunday we make our way home, possibly navigating the tricky Jack Sound, or via Grassholm to watch the fantastic Gannets fishing, or lunch at Skomer to enjoy the plethora of bird life during the early summer.
Whatever the itinerary and destination of your weekend, you'll feel like you have been away for days - a real break from the norm!
